This cutting tool geometry designed to efficiently cut softer plastics.
This cutting geometry efficiently cuts Glass and Carbon reinforced Thermoplastic Plastic composites and Thermoplastic Resins. In addition it has been found to be very effective cutting Kevlar, Spetra, and similar organic reinforced composites with Better Quality than can be achieved with conventional drills. This unusual geometry cuts fast and clean.The tool must be used with a stiff spindleor with a drill bushiung for initial guiding. Since there is little to no resistance to penetration care must be used to not overfeed this tool. Over feeding will reduce hole quality and might lead to tool breakage.
Control of the Chip
The reason the International Carbide Corp. If the direction of cutting forces are correct the cutting action will produce the best hole. The hole will have the correct size. It will be burr or fuzz free, and without delamination on entry or exit which will reduce costs or reworking.
